Those that live with disability and use mobility equipment will most likely need to consider an accessible home. Ramps are one of the common ways that participants utilise in order to achieve this.
Despite the many similarities between the ramps there are some unique features for all of them that may decide which ramp you need to purchase when it comes to making homes accessible.
Telescopic Ramps
One of our popular ramp models the Telescopic ramps allows wheelchair users to easily mount stairs with safety. The ramp extends and shortens in length to suit the required height; furthermore the Telescopic ramp features a non-slip tread that provides greater traction while the underside of the ramp is covered with a non-slip tread.
Available in either economy and premium the difference between that premium ramps are made from a higher grade of aluminium and has a textured surface that provides better friction for tyres and won’t wear over time. Meanwhile the economy version has a grip tape attached to it which will wear over time.
With a maximum capacity of 270kg and a length varying between 180-240cm with a 160-190mm width it’s suitable for either wheelchairs or scooters. Plus it’s light weight means that you can carry it with you if need be.
Edge Portable Ramp
If you want a ramp with a little bit more security then the Edge Portable Ramp might be the one for you. Able to be deployed in seconds the foldable Edge Portable Ramp is manufactured with a unique combination of uni-directional glass and carbon fibre materials resulting in an extremely strong, yet light, portable ramp.
Furthermore the Edge Portable Ramp has a multi-panelled design that’s held together by a patented hinge system connected by webbing. This allows the ramp to fold into an easily compact unit for easy storage plus it folds with a concertina action, allowing for a much smaller width when folded.
Able to take on up to 300kg in weight and available various sizes the Edge Portable exhibits a high degree of adaptability to conform to differing surface angles regardless of whether it’s a building floor or inclined sidewalk.
Aluminium Single Fold Ramp
Lightweight and portable this ramp is still able to take on up to 272kg of weight while able to be folded in half like a suitcase for transportation and storage. Furthermore the ramp comes complete with an anti-slip high-traction surface and 50mm siderails to prevent wheelchairs and walkers from veering off the sides.
By no means are these our entire range of ramps. In fact we can create custom ramps, which can be customised to whatever dimensions you want making it great for when off-the-shelf ramps don’t fit your needs. To complement our ramp range we also sell a variety of mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs. As always our sales team are here to help you so if you’re unsure of something then give us a call on 02 9649 2111 and we’ll try to find the right equipment for you.
