Overview
Ball blanket for premature babies with restlessness and sleeping problems, sensory disturbances or motor difficulties.
Children that are born prematurely leave their mother's womb too early. We begin to develop the muscle and joint position senses (the proprioceptive sense) and the sense of touch (the tactile sense) inside the womb, and these are the two senses that together help let us know the limits of our bodies. When a child leaves its mother's womb too early, the child may not have developed the two senses that a full-term baby would normally have developed. As a result, some children may have difficulty calming down, while others may experience slow motor skills development. The ball blanket can be used to effectively help a child develop—or stimulate— these two senses, as the weight of the blanket and the balls inside act to stimulate the child's sense of touch and the muscle and joint position senses, thereby helping the child to better "notice" themselves, and in this way calm down. The Protac Ball Blanket stimulates the sense of touch as well as the muscle and joint position senses, promoting calmness and creating a sense of security in infants with mental and physical unrest. It helps improve body awareness, helps the user fall asleep faster and promotes better, uninterrupted sleep.
The effects of premature birth
When infants are born prematurely, often their sensory systems will not have a chance to fully develop. Restlessness, crying, tension, strong reactions to sensory stimulation and sleeping problems can be the effects of a premature birth. The Protac Ball Blanket has a relaxing effect on the sensory system and soothes the body, making the user feel calm and collected.
A good start in life
The Protac Ball Blanket is used by nurses, occupational therapists and parents in neonatal units. It can be used both during the daytime and at night, in prams and in bed/the cradle. The way the blanket envelopes the body creates a sense of security and calmness, while the stimulation from the balls alleviates hyperactivity and stress. The Protac Ball Blanket has a positive effect on children's sensory integration and promotes a good night's sleep and healthy recovery.

The Protac Ball Blanket for infants is available in two sizes: preemie and baby-size. Both sizes are filled with 25 mm plastic balls. The preemie-size Protac Ball Blanket is well-suited for infants ages 0-6 mos. with mental and physical unrest, hyperactivity, lack of body awareness and sleeping problems. Also has a positive effect on babies with colic, low muscle tone and spasticity, among other conditions.
