Our collection of rehabilitation aids
Whether you're looking for quality post-surgery mobility aids, cutting-edge devices for strength training and pain management, or tools to improve daily life for individuals with disabilities, we offer an extensive range of solutions:
- Crutches are commonly used to assist individuals who have had lower extremity surgeries, like knee, hip or ankle surgery, or have sustained injuries to the lower limbs. They come in various styles, like underarm and forearm crutches — they require upper body strength and balance, so patients may need some training on how to use them.
- Walkers provide stability and support to individuals who have had surgeries affecting their lower limbs. They come in different varieties, including standard walkers, knee walkers and rollators (walkers with wheels and a seat). Again, patients should be trained in proper walker use to prevent accidents and ensure they get the necessary support.
- Wheelchairs (manual or electric) are essential for individuals who are temporarily or permanently unable to walk or bear weight on their legs after surgery. Proper fitting and positioning in a wheelchair are crucial to prevent pressure sores and maintain comfort and function.
- Canes are often used post-surgery for hip, knee, or leg procedures, where partial weight-bearing is allowed, and are available as standard or quad canes (i.e. four-tipped canes for extra stability).
- Exercise bands and resistance equipment are used for strength training and rehabilitation exercises to help regain muscle strength and flexibility post-surgery. Exercise bands, often made of latex or rubber, provide resistance for various muscle groups during exercises.
- Bed and bathroom rails provide stability and support for individuals with mobility limitations, reducing the risk of falls and injuries. Bed rails attach to a bed’s frame to prevent patients from falling out of bed at night, whereas grab bars are installed in bathrooms for support standing up or sitting down. Some minor home modifications may be required for bathroom rails.
- Elevated toilet seats are raised attachments for standard toilets that make it easier for individuals with limited mobility to sit down and stand up.
- Shower chairs or bath seats are used in the shower or bathtub to provide a secure and comfortable place to sit while bathing, improving safety and independence in daily hygiene routines.
- Hand and grip strengtheners improve hand strength, dexterity, and grip endurance in post-surgery recovery, as well as in therapy for conditions like arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, or injuries that affect hand function.
We recommend consulting your surgeon, physical therapist, or healthcare provider for personalised recommendations for rehabilitation equipment based on your specific surgery and individual needs. However, we also have multiple occupational therapists on board here at Active Mobility who can provide expert advice ahead of your surgery.
