For example, we stock the Posey 6-Month Bed Sensor that helps prevent falls and reduces the number of false alarms. The sensor is placed on top of the mattress and is connected to a Posey alarm — as soon as pressure is lifted from the sensor, the caregiver will be alerted to a potential fall. 

This particular sensor is compatible with the Sitter Elite Alarm and the Keepsafe Deluxe Alarm (note: you have to purchase the sensor and the alarm separately).

• Keepsafe Deluxe Alarm — this lightweight and compact alarm allows you to choose between one of five alarm tones or a pre-recorded message that can be personalised to meet your needs. The alarm can either be suspended to allow caregivers to administer care without the alarm sounding or be put on hold to allow the patient to be away from the alarm without having to turn it off.
   
• Sitter Elite Alarm — this innovative bed alarm is compatible with a wide range of Posey sensors and alerts staff when patients attempt to leave their bed, chair or toilet seat unattended. The Sitter Elite Alarm is suitable for patients who are at risk of falling or tend to wander around unassisted.

Chair and toilet seat sensors for safety at all times

As well as bed alarms, we also stock multipurpose fall alarms to ensure your patient is safe at all times. The Posey Chair Belt Sensor, for example, is great for wheelchairs and regular chairs — just clip the patient into the chair and you will receive an alert if and when the belt is unfastened. The sensor is easily transferred between chairs and is compatible with the Sitter Elite Alarm and the Keepsafe Deluxe Alarm.

The Keepsafe Deluxe Alarm also allows voice recording in different languages for non-English speaking patients. The voice can be someone the patient is familiar with so they are comforted in a stressful situation. 

If the patient isn’t comfortable with the idea of a seatbelt alarm, you might choose the Posey Chair Pad Sensor instead. Simply place the sensor pad on the patient’s chair or wheelchair and connect it to a Posey alarm to receive alerts. For toileting, you might consider the Posey Toilet Seat Sensor which can be placed underneath the toilet seat. 

Alternatively, if your patient is quite mobile and independent, you might opt for the Personal Medical Alarm with GPS Positioning. Ideal for aged care, dementia care, retirement village, health professionals and people living with disabilities, all the patient needs to do is press the SOS button when they need help. The device will send an SMS message to up to 10 pre-programmed mobile phone numbers, so the patient can alert loved ones nearby. 

Any incoming calls are automatically answered without having to push any buttons — plus, you can text “LOC” to the device and the pendant will respond by sending you the patient’s location via Google Maps. 

If the patient is prone to falls, we recommend turning on the falls detection sensor so that all pre-programmed phone numbers will receive an alert. The same goes for inactivity — if the pendant has been stationary for a period of time, the pendant will sound the alarm.
